STREAM OF CONSCIOUSNESS

Welcome to my life!!!

Here I have my Stream of Conciousness diary which follows my musical journey. I also have my AdamaWorld diary. These are articles I write about things that inspire me aside from music, such as the environment, health, healing and creativity and the arts, etc. I hope you enjoy them :)

Video Shoot, Photo Shoot, Sewing...
Dec 10, 2006
I'm a busy bee this weekend but having a good time with it.

I have a photoshoot coming up next week with one of my most favorite photographers in the UK, so I'm very excited about that.

This weekend I'm making some cool things to wear which is so much fun as I love sewing!! I studied fashion design in London before I got into music full-time so I've still got a few sewing tricks up my sleeve (lol). I'll post some pictures soon :)

What else is going down? I have a video shoot coming up too!! I can't bloody wait!!! Got a fantastic director working on it and we'll be shooting within the next few weeks. Still deciding on locations and things but it's going to be hot!

Lately I've been enjoying the feeling of expressing creativity in different mediums. I hope to keep on trying different things and re-visiting hobbies that I haven't had the time to enjoy recently. I'll get back to painting again next year and carve some time out for that. My paints are collecting the dust LOL!

Okay, I'll get back to the needle and thread, organising stuff for the shoot and brainstorming sessions for the video. Oh, and I won't forget to get some fresh air today LOLOL!!!

Back in the UK!!!!
Sep 11, 2006
I am finally back in London after a long time abroad recording music! For those of you who don't know what I'm on about, I was in Israel recording my album in a studio in the desert by the Dead Sea. What turned out to be an album became two albums of songs recorded, so we got a lot of work/fun done there :)

So now I'm out of the desert and in the city. Instead of getting held up by sheep and donkeys, I'm getting held up by rush-hour traffic lol! I love London and it feels good this time round. I feel like I am experiencing this place as a tourist would in a way, paying more attention to detail than I did before, such as the architecture, the green trees, the way people relate to their surroundings...it's all weird and wonderful. Thank god it's still warm here at least or I would be in for a right shock!

So what now???? I have a beautiful album, all mixed and ready to go!! Did I say that? Yes, I did!!! I HAVE A FUCKING ALBUM!!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!

All that is left is the artwork. I have not been able to be in ten places at once and I haven't sorted this out yet (dig my exuses!!). So, that is my next step. Also, the tracklisting is not 'final' as there is a sample to clear and I'm in the process of doing so. It's all a matter of juggling the timing aspect, the not-so-artistic matters of a release date, artwork, promotional avenues, getting my sample cleared, etc, etc. I can't just 'put it out' for sale. There is stuff to do to set up this release.

It would be amazing if every independent artist could just release their album and 'BOOM!' it's in Tower Records, HMV, Virgin, etc. To do this one would need to be in a distribution deal or with a label that has one. And getting a distribution deal ain't no piece of cake either. Nobody signs artists purely because they are talented. Business is business and you get distribution deals because you have a nice marketing plan and budget with a projection of sales or you have already have some good exposure on the ground happening in a particular territory.

I have faith in what I am doing and little by little the word is getting out there. The least I could do for my fans is get the album out on the internet, both physically and digitally. I can do that and I will :)

Then there is the matter of territory. I'm a bit all over the globe really; recording in Israel, living and promoting in the UK and fans in many different countries as the internet is a global platform. So to sell my CD physically on the net, say in the USA, I will need to send copies over to independent online retailers. I will also do the same here in the UK. Of course, digitally the album can be bought from any country. All the while I am working towards getting the word out as far and wide as I can.

I have a lot of work to do but I'm so excited about it that I don't feel it as work. I am ready to take on the world!!! I will make entries in my diary here about my progress and any twists and turns in my path as I walk it. I haven't been writing in my diary for a while as I was finishing the album and preparing my return here, going back and forth and dealing with madness, setting up my computer, pro tools, sequencers, etc, for songwriting, and I'm still a tad unsettled as yet.

So, I will log off for now and get right to it. Big Thanks to everybody on MySpace who have sent me nice comments and messages with your support, spreading the word and being beautiful! I really appreciate it!

Love and Hugs...

Computer Love, Jack Bauer, Cardio Fittness...
Jun 1, 2006
I’m totally knackered right now as I’m typing in a near zombie-like state, and it’s only early evening where I am. I love to work hard but I forget to rest sometimes. Did I say sometimes? (lol). Let’s be honest here. A lot of the times!

MySpace has been wicked! People are finding my music and sending great vibes my way and I’ve found great friends there and cool bands/artists. It’s hard to keep up though, now that my mailbox is travelling to 8,000 messages and I can’t keep track of everybody to reply to them. People deserve my time and I love to give my time and energy to people. That’s the way I am. Unfortunately though, I can’t do it for tens of thousands of people and I WISH that I could! After spending 2 to 3 hours a day there I still leave MySpace feeling unfulfilled because of the people I didn’t have the time to connect with or reply to. I guess that’s just something I need to deal with.

Talking about making music, like I said in my last journal entry, it’s so weird coming to the end of the album. It’s all production finishing-touches and mixing. Then there’s the not-so-artistic tasks that go around a CD release…talking to radio, publicity, prospective managers and booking agencies. I’m about to start the artwork though which is fun and creative, just the way I like things :)

Days seem to be flying past and ending prematurely. I’ve been unwinding at night to a few seasons of ‘24’ (Jack Bauer is my hero!) and ‘Prison Break’, oh!...and ‘Lost’. Wicked stuff!

It’s time for me to start cleaning up my diet a bit, less fat, sugar and all that crap. I need to do some more cardio, bellydancing, walking, that kind of stuff. I want to kick ass with my live shows and I discovered that I like to move like a mad woman whilst performing (lol) so I’d better get fitter so that I can live up to my inner drive. My laptop seems to get more quality time out of me than the running machine though (lol)!

Well, I can’t complain about the computer world. I love it. There’s so much I can achieve with it. I kiss my Apple Mac and say a prayer.

What? It's been THAT long????
Apr 2, 2006
Shame on me!!! LOL!!! I'm working so hard that I’m not taking the time to smell the flowers along the way. Not good! Okay, I’m happy to sit down at my online journal now and connect…

What has happened since my last entry? Well…on the subject of my personal goals and dreams…

Over the past couple of years, I’ve been sticking my video camera on my tripod to record moments in the studio and in rehearsals. It’s been great! I’ve got so far over 50 hours of footage, which has become a short film for now, about 7 minutes and 40 seconds long. You can watch it or download it from this Link. It was really cool to see that come to fruition and I can’t wait to do the full-length film.

Also, since my last entry, I’ve started a band!!! This is SO exciting for me. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for so many years but the timing just hasn’t been right. We have been working on the songs for 2 months solid and we’re ready to hit the stage. I so excited to perform! It’s really great to have a new way to communicate my music, to share my heart and soul through song and dance, all with fantastic musicians (and friends). Also, I love to grow as an artist and to keep on pushing my boundaries creatively as a performer. So the next step is to get the show on the road.

The production is coming to a close! OMG…I can’t believe I’m actually saying this. We have finished not one but TWO albums worth of material ready for including on a CD. There are tons more songs that I have written but to have them actually finished is something else. Kind of like a closure. I’m still sorting out what the track list is going to be and the artwork. Then there is the task of getting the word out to the public, the media, etc.

It’s no easy job for an independent artist. Established labels have their networks, connections and staff to launch a campaign – that is how you hear about new artists. For the indie artist, we are starting from a grass-roots level, working mainly from word-of-mouth, working with limited cash and stretched time and energy. We are producing the music and promoting it at the same time. But I love this! I’m not complaining. Wish me luck!!!

Talking about labels…I’m open to working with a label in the future, in fact I think it would be an amazing thing if the terms were right. But I ain’t waiting around for that to happen. That’s why I’m so in love with the internet. I can reach out to people.

So enough from me! Drop me a note sometime through my Contact page, I’d love to hear from you. I can’t promise that I’ll get back to you fast, because I have tons of mail, BUT that doesn’t mean that your email is not important. One day in the not-to-distant future I will get to your message and read it with much appreciation ☺

Speak soon!!!!

Love Adama

Rain!
Oct 19, 2005
What a blessing! We have just finished the final version of 'Rain' in the studio and it started to rain here for the first time this year! I take that as a good sign and I can't wait to get the song out to you. It's sounding really great, I'm so pleased with it. As it's not on the EP, I'll be putting it out as a download, so I'll let you know what's going on.

All is going well. I have been organising a lot of stuff. I've been setting up digital distribution, so the music will be available in a few good stores. I'll let you know asap :) Bye for now!!

Oct 16, 2005
Wow! It's been a mad few weeks, I have to tell you. The preparation that goes into releasing a CD (or EP in my case) is quite overwhelming...but SO EXCITING!!!! I'm sitting here adding content for my new website and I'm sooooooo happy with it (thank you Audra & Mike of Rock-N-Roll Design). Well, I'd love to sit and chat a bit here in my diary but I've gotta bust-a-groove and get some more content on this site....music, news and all the rest.

See ya!
